MECART Foundation stimulates an active exchange of knowledge through art between Europe and other continents in close collaboration with individual artists, academics, journalists, scientists and art critics linking grass root and institutional level.

MECART Foundation aims to gain and spread knowledge about contemporary developments in the arts, cultural heritage and development within the local, national and international (diaspora) context. Its main focus lies here in the Middle East, especially in Iraq, Iran and the Arabian Peninsula.

MECART Foundation develops (international) art and culture programms in collaboration with artists to present and reflect on new developments and perspectives in art (visual arts, poetry, literature, music, theatre, film and photography), and it supports individual artists in The Netherlands with art projects in their home countries.

MECART Foundation supports local and regional initiatives on art and cultural development in the Middle East. And it advises on the representation of the Middle East in Europe on an institutional and governmental level.
